Stage One: Grammar Kindergarten through 3rd or 4th grade The authors of the book The Well-Trained Mind consider these ages as the most absorbent. They believe it is not so much a time of “self discovery” as it is the accumulation of new ideas, new words, new stories, and new facts. Stage Two: Logic 4th or 5th through 8th grade Students begin to process information they’ve obtained and question it. Their ability to process things more logically and think abstractly is more developed. Stage Three:Rhetoric 9th grade and beyond Students apply the information that has been learned. This course is designed to foster a culture of inquiry. Nurturing a classroom culture that values questioning and inquiry, will empower students to move easily into the Logic stage of the trivium. They will ask questions, seek answers, and explore the world with curiosity and enthusiasm. Classes will include open discussion, reflective writing, inquiry based projects, and opportunities for peer collaboration. This course aims to

Note: We will be completing the 2nd half of this curriculum. ) Once we have completed Introductory Science, we will move on to Earth Science. Earth Science : This curriculum builds upon some of the basic principles established in our Introductory Science and introduces students to the biblical and secular worldviews and how those beliefs impact the study of science before studying various aspects of earth science, including the structure of the earth, glaciers, volcanology, oceanography, and more. Along the way, we will discover how scientific observations support the creation account in Genesis. History Mystery of History Volume 1 & 2 Creation to the Resurrection & The Early Church and the Middle The Mystery of History Volume 1: Creation to the Resurrection, Third Edition covers Creation to the Resurrection . Students will learn about famous biblical characters, ancient peoples and events, and well-known historical figures such as Aesop, Buddha, Pythagoras, Confucius, Emperor Asoka, Herodotus, Caesar, Hannibal, and Herod. Volume II covers world history from the ascension of Jesus Christ (c. A.D. 33) to the invention of the printing press (1456). Where most medieval studies hover over the Dark Ages of Europe, The Mystery of History Volume II goes further to blend the history of the early church with worldwide events of the Middle Ages―on one meaningful timeline. Spelling All About Spelling : This program teaches spelling using phonics-based, multisensory strategies. In Level 1, students will learn the first 32 phonograms, how to segment sounds in words and count syllables, short and long vowel sounds, the difference between c and k in words, the Floss rule, how to form plurals using s and es, beginner compound words, and more. In addition to this wonderful curriculum, we will fortify both spelling, phonics and vocabulary skills by integrating this additional top rated spelling curriculum. A Reason for Spelling: Filled with contemporary Bible verses, writing activities and scripture verses, this course also integrates spelling with phonics, writing, and other language arts skills. Coursework will include weekly lessons with five days of spelling lessons, each with a set of 15 words. Arranged in a test-study-test sequence, students will learn through immediate correction of their work. The student work-text is filled with a variety of fun games that will help students master each week's spelling list. The week's lesson will begin with a read-aloud story to introduce the topic and Scripture text for the week. Students then complete a preview exercise that assesses student familiarity with the ten weekly spelling words; students then complete a number of learning activities and word games and conclude the week with a final test that allows the student to demonstrate progress.
