Composition & Grammar II 8th - 10th
COURSE: Composition & Grammar II (for Jr High/High School) DESCRIPTION: Designed for students in grades 8 through 10, this course will cover advanced writing applications, grammar, vocabulary, root words, and focus on building skills for effective communication through various writing styles--including advanced descriptive narration and persuasive essays. This course implements the WriteShop II Curriculum. Required prerequisite for this course: Completion of Composition & Grammar I course or WriteShop I curriculum. Students should spend a minimum of 4 hours per week on this course outside of class and expect to complete writing assignments that must be submitted weekly. CLASS FEE: $200.00 per student per semester (due September 10, 2025, and January 14, 2026) OR $55 per student per month (due on the 5th from September 2025 through April 2025)–payable by PayPal, CashApp, or Zelle. SUPPLY FEE: $25.00 supply fee per student per semester (due October 1, 2025, and January 21, 2026). MATERIALS PROVIDED: Enrolled students will receive the following: 1. Homework Folder: a homework folder to receive and submit weekly assignments (which must be brought to each class). 2. Daily Grammar: grammar packets will be distributed each work for students to complete daily in between classes to turn in the following week. 3. Vocabulary List: copies of root word lists will be issued for students to prepare for weekly vocabulary and spelling quizzes. REQUIRED MATERIALS (Parents will need to acquire the following items which students will need to bring to each class): 1. WriteShop II Student Workbook, 5th edition 2. A 3-Ring Binder with four dividers for sections (Work in Progress, Old Drafts, Final Drafts, Word Lists) 3. A quality Thesaurus 4. Colored Pencils 5. Pencils or Pens |
